Did you know that some vegetables contain just as much calcium if not more than some of the dairy products that exist today?  Along with the other green vegetables, dandelion happens to be one of them. Although technically classified as an herb, adding dandelion greens to your palate can give you variation and kick to your meals. Juicing the dandelion is even more powerful and provides vitality to your body which is something much more than something we blow on in the days of summer to make a wish on. Here are some of the documented and scientifically proven benefits of Dandelion Greens:

High in Calcium: One cup has up to 103 milligrams (10% of the recommended daily value).

– Rich in Iron: One cup contains 1.7 milligrams of Iron.

-Loaded with Minerals: packed with Manganese, Phosphorus and potassium.

-14% Protein Content: One cup contains 1.5 Grams of Protein.

-Health benefits: Nutrients contained within the dandelion have been shown to combat age related macular degeneration and strokes. Acts as an anti-Inflammatory agent in the body. May help reduce the risk of some cancers and multiple sclerosis.

So if your looking for a change in taste or to break your normal juicing regimen try adding fresh Dandelion greens for a new pattern.  Here is a great beginning juicing recipe for dandelions:

1 hefty handful of dandelion greens

1 orange

1 small to medium size carrot

1/2 small to medium size banana

Combine all in your favorite juicer and then have at it. Using a Nutribullet or a Vitamix for this would be ideal due to the fact that you will retain all of the fiber.  Here’s to your health.
