Ancient Egyptian Medical System.

A historical framework of looking at healing methods from the past that are the foundations of Naturopathy, are being revisited and are greatly needed in this time. One may ask why revisit the methods of Ancient Egyptian- Kemetic Medical Arts? The reasoning is that these Arts reflect some aspects of what many people know of as “Holistic Healing” today. As a premise, the Ancient Egyptians looked at food as a way to uphold the ‘outer and inner temple’ i.e. the bodySo every food and herb that was prescribed to the patient was done so with the intention of bringing the “Temple” to life.

But to get a clear understanding of all of this, we need to know the relevance of Imhotep in Egyptian Medicine and how it came from the Mystery Schools that preceded him. Imhotep was able to gather and codify Egyptian Medical Sciences . He was born in 1827 B.C.E. and was taught and initiated on the path of Holistic Arts, Alchemy and herbal pharmacology.  Later, Hippocates and Galen were able to base many of their theories on and ideas upon the Egyptian Medical Sciences. For instance Galen based his understanding of the Elementals of the body (earth, fire, water, air, ether) from African Egyptian knowledge and Ma’at understanding. They were able to determine that most diseases were caused by an imbalance of these elements.

Imhotep was also trained and taught in the African Escalpius Temples where hospitals were formed under King Zoser. They administered surgery, naturopathy, massage and energy work. A vast majority of that was happening in Memphis around 2000 B.C.E. And speaking of energy work, it was considered that the Life Force of Nyama; is what was that permeated and animated all living things.

WORKING WITH INTERNAL ELECTRICITY.

Within the Egyptian Medical systems, they were working with the science of Alchemy (inner and outer transformation). This meant that Life Force; Nyama manifests as electromagnetic clouds and aura that was able to bring the vitamins to life and be activated. Not only was it able to do that, but also to change the human being for the better. When Life Force is depleted, all nutrient content suffers. Much of this was discovered in the Ebers Papyrus, which was written about 2100 years before the Canon of Medicine.

So for the Egyptian Doctor to become a Master, they had to be taught and they had to understand that all organs are related to each other and that they are all sustained by Spirit. They had to become the Healing Machine to be able to diagnose and treat what was wrong with their patients.  In one way or another, this healing framework is at the root of Naturopathic Medicine as we know it today.

Much has changed since that time, and while not all formulas need to be applied today, it is still important to know the roots of the past and where much of the knowledge comes from.  Applying these techniques bring about the brightening of the Lataif (Sufic Chakra), keeps the internal vision sharpened (Basira) and the body functioning as it should with the right foods, herbs and  nutrients.
