People grow older. It’s a known fact of life, and there is no disputing that. But how we age makes all of the difference. Today we are looking into the longevity aspect of growing older with full consciousness and presence; something that is not talked about much in our society these days in the West. In societies such as ours, we are told to amass much and burn out quick and fast.
Sometimes in other societies and cultures, it is about slowing down, slowing down breathing and being fully present in the process of living, which of course includes growing older. But now there are some in the United States and other Western societies that are embracing this notion of full present moment awareness into the Elder Years. Slowing down has so many benefits in the health and healing process.
When approaching this idea of the Ageless Mindset, the right herbal formulas make all of the difference. Kava kava, valerian and ginkgo biloba are a perfect set up for a sharp and rested mind. The elders had knowledge of this combination and how it affects the body overall. While we would not want to take this combination altogether, individually, these herbs can bring about a sharp and rested mind. When we have a sharp and rested mind, this allows for the nervous system to function at its best and allows Life Force to flow through the body more with ease.
Attitude is a big part of the Ageless Mindset as well. Who do we associate with? Young minded in thinking? Or negative and downpulling? These are the questions that should be asked on a regular basis for stability and mindset growing into the later years without unnecessary blockages both spiritually and and physically.
And what of the physical aspect of the Ageless Mindset? What we know as Naturopaths’ is that running for cardiovascular health support as well as regular strength training keeps the body in a low anti-inflammatory state and keeps the body strong in the aging process. As much as someone is able to keep up with physical activity; it only comes back to support them in the aging years when the person needs it the most.
One more aspect of the Ageless Mindset that cannot be forgotten about, is the knowledge of listening to positive feedback through words, sounds and positive affirmations. How can we get this in now in our time? In this age of instant technology, there are mindfulness applications, uplifting videos online and sites that offer 432 hertz sounds for continuous healing and staying as positive as possible. As it was stated in the beginning, aging is inevitable, but the process doesn’t have to be painful or debilitating. Even in older age, the mind and spirit can be young and active at heart. This feeling and presence of being young and active at heart brings about the Ageless Mindset. A mindset that we could use more of these days.
