In the Naturopathic community we have known for centuries that when someone has a fever, this is actually a good sign of a form of progressive healing; the fever is actually trying to burn up toxins. According to the Wild Holistic site, it is a form of internal cleansing that elevates body heat and boosts liver enzyme functions at the same time. It releases bile to heavy metals and pathogens. But at the same time, we know that fevers are not experienced as something pleasant when it is happening. What are some natural ways that Holistic Practitioners deal and work with helping the patient deal and manage the process of a fever?
Bauhinia has been shown to have some serious impact with lowering some of the inflammatory effects when feeling sick and weak. It was shown that it is not always about a high dosage, but finding the middle amount that heals on a consistent basis. These formulas are also magnified when the white willow is used in adjunct. The point is, is that the fever is two fold; one fold that attempts to eliminate toxins by raising heat, and then another aspect of it by allowing sweating to ‘cool’ the surface of the body.
Finally, while it should be approached with extreme caution, Black Nightshade powder has shown to be an antipyretic (antifever) and have antipyretic properties and has been used for a very long time and has been able to bring the body back to a healing state when experiencing a high rate of fever.
All in all, the fever is trying to show that there is an actual fight to restore balance to the body and bring the person back to a place of homeostasis. Of course fevers experienced by children should be monitored very closely. As that child grows older and stronger, that now adult is able to manage and withstand the effects of the fever and we can bring down its effects naturally.
